Socialists want to see money eventually disappear. The use of money forces rationing on most people. If you want a particular product, you can only have it if you have the money to buy it. If you don’t have enough money, you cannot obtain a service that you may need or want.
Though Socialists advocate a moneyless system to obtain products and services, this cannot occur under our current capitalist system due to the horrendous amount of harm it would cause the overwhelming number of people that would be adversely affected … especially the poor. So, a moneyless system can only be achieved once the means of producing products and services are under common ownership and to be used to meet the needs of individuals and families according to their own self-defined needs.
So, no, we are not envisioning the abolition of money within capitalism.
